➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I'm still dying.

I know lol it sucks. And it especially sucks that it got stuck on such a LAME poll LOL maybe @BantyChooks would have luck changing it? Has she tried yet?? Or maybe we should be extra dramatic and try to see if a mod could make an exception and change it for us :lau  but it is probably written into the code or something and not simple.

But that was actually totally unrelated to the poll situation. Lol

Banty doesn't have the power either. :hit

Get pictures of the new pens!

Spent a lot of time moving the two of the coops into their new positions and then spreading the dirt. I didn't get the panels in place yet. But I will take pictures.

Okay a few photos of pen construction first steps...
First dismantling the old pens results in reusable parts and two small coops to repair and move. In the first photo, the
pen parts are stacked to the right. The two coops will be moved to the new pens.

And I had stacked up kennel cages to utilize as individual cages for roosters or a broody hen. I will use two of these. Four units that are 30 by 30 by 24 inches. BIL will weld a metal rack for holding these up off the ground and easy reach. Plan is to cover these to keep birds dry and comfortable.

Moved the big coop and relocated the two smaller coops then spread the topsoil. This location had 6 coops and pens that needed replacing.

All the coops will have some repairs befor getting a good coat of paint.
This is the biggest coop. I'll add a lift top egg nest tomorrow.

And new panels going up tomorrow

Here are a few of the new residents already checking out the job site.

Thanks Nan! I can't wait to see the finished set up.

Keep it in the box it came in If you have temp issues. Keep box openm I had syrofoam under it

Thanks!! That’s helpful!! I haven’t had any issues so far except that my Brinsea spot check thermometer keeps reading about 2 degrees too high (I don’t leave it in permanently, just put it in long enough, like a few mins, for it to settle down and stablilize and read properly, and have checked a few times last night and once this morning) even though the temperature on the incubator says it is at the right temp?? Thinking of ordering another Brinsea thermometer in case mine is faulty and also buying a third one now and a hygrometer because I don’t think I trust the built in one.
