Also do you think leaving the vent plug open would cool it down a little bit? Or is it not advisable to leave the vent plug open during incubation?
I was told by many last year (my first incubating attempts) to toss the vent plugs away. Mind you, that was for a styrofoam bator, not a snazzy IncuView.
 
Speaking of incubators....
The alarm on mine was going off like crazy yesterday. It was flashing, saying there had been a power failure. First the temp was too low to register, then it shot up to 107! I think that I've lost 3 doz babies. :hit
eggs take longer to heat up so you should be ok:hugs

ETA I pulled the cord restrainer out too so they got more air

may need sponges at lock down to get humidity up there.. depending on how humid the room is

mine came with a note to use the inner reserve for humidity first...
