➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Thanks, I didn’t see that in my instructions and filled the outer ring and middle (by accident, put too much in, it filled both). The humidity is really high, like 63%, so I guess next time I will have to try just the middle or inner ring.

I recommend that you wipe it with an alcohol pad first.

Okay good idea. I figured it was probably kind of gross/unsanitary to do that, coming from the factory and all. But do you think it’s a good idea if I clean it? Or do you think I should just assume it’s accurate? Decided to put it back in and leave it this time and see if it still reads high.

Bunny finally started laying again!! :D:celebrate she also decided to make a cameo in the first pic. :lau

It’s the blue one. Also it looks big here but it’s actually pretty small and even though it looks bigger than the other one in the pic, it’s not cause it’s narrower. Guess after 7+ months without laying, she’s gotta start small :lau but I am glad she is laying again and glad it is back to being blue and not almost white or weird gray or weird shells and mixed colors like it was towards when she was getting ready to stop. Guess after that long the color restores? Hopefully she gets back to the massive eggs she used to lay but then again, I’m honestly just happy with ANY eggs from her. :lau was beginning to think she might never start again. :lau

Thanks!! That’s really helpful!! So I should have a second inside the incubator permanently?? So far I don’t find it much work to take the vent plug out, stick the probe in, and check it. But maybe that will get old during the incubation period lol although, also, are the spot checks even calibratable? I don’t think it reads below 90. Maybe I should try the boiling thing. I think it says they are already calibrated though, at least according to them, so idk.
Your first question above yes! Have two or three thermometers in their permanently.

Thanks. I thought I read somewhere to leave it in and only remove it at lockdown but idk. So should I remove it at lockdown or just leave it out for the whole incubation period?? Do you think leaving it open would cool the incubator down a little bit??
Throw them away.
