Someone on a local homesteading FB group I’m on has one and he is so cute!!

I adore Carmen, he is a great bird. He's only been part of my life about 5 years -- he moved in when my partner did. My partner was a young teen when his mom impulse purchased the bird for him. Carmen was a yearling at the time.

And, he is a tremendous amount of work and has vast social and emotional needs in a way that small birds really do not.

I can't imagine life now without him -- but were we making the choice to bring a macaw home now, in our 30s, neither one of us would do so. They're so much more involved than people realize, even the ones who do all their homework beforehand and know on paper what they're getting into.

But yeah, there’s a few but that’s still only like 3 of us compared to everyone here and some of my other threads at least you guys are closer, some of my threads I’m decades younger and the age of their kids or possibly even grandkids
