I think that all the ducks everywhere should be named after various forms of street food. Sandwich, taco, slider, foot long, momo, kebab, dim sum, waffle, gyro, corn dog, yakisoba... the list goes on.Imagining a duckling named "sandwich"...

Boise/Ada countyWhere is this Utopia in Idaho? When I look, I see crap like this:
Apr 7, 2019 · Snow, rain, thunderstorms and flooding are all in the forecast this week for East Idaho including the Teton Valley area.
Your poor chickens! Mine love cockroaches. Today was coop cleaning day and compost opening day. We stirred several out of their nasty, filthy beds. Black hen did not dawdle, ate it right there on the spot before someone could steal it from her. Crunch and slurp. Gone.
Very nice with a side of sowbugs.
T-bone, rib eye, pork chop...I think that all the ducks everywhere should be named after various forms of street food. Sandwich, taco, slider, foot long, momo, kebab, dim sum, waffle, gyro, corn dog, yakisoba... the list goes on.

It is still sprinkling outside but no storms.
Maggie showed up this afternoon in the duck pen during a heavy shower. Went to look at her nest. A branch from the Catalpa tree had split and was weighing down the Scotch Pine limb over the nest. Water was pouring into the nest.
I scooped up the eggs into my shirt tail and an armload of pine needles from the nest and ran for the coop. I put the eggs and nest material in a bucket for safe keeping. Threw some wood shavings into the white barrel nest box. Then arranged the needles into a nest and laid the eggs in the middle.
Had to catch Maggie with the fish net. Put her at the entrance of the barrel and she walked in and talked to the eggs. Gave her a bucket of water outside the door of her barrel and a container of food just inside the entrance. Reduced the area of the portable pen around her barrel to keep her close to her eggs.
I've checked on Maggie several times since moving her. Sometimes she is on the eggs and sometimes not. Last time I checked was at 9:30 pm. She seemed settled...hoping she stays on her eggs thru the night.
