➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I was never for the latest craze BUT I met a goldendoodle the other day she was cool. I'd like to have one but too rich for my blood
Blech. I live in a high saturation doodle zone. My sister has a Goldendoodle. He's insane. Completely calm until he randomly goes into a mental breakdown mode and chews his fur down to the skin, then licks the skin until it bleeds. Or "goes dark", as they call it, and won't move or eat for a week. Or randomly attacks another dog for walking too close to him. Plus, their hair is disgusting. It absorbs filth and requires heavy grooming.

I've met countless doodles of all mixes. Only one of them was what I would call a mentally healthy dog. I love mutts, but the majority of doodles that I've met seem to get the worst traits from whatever breeds go into making them. I'm sure some of that has to do with how they are raised, but I also believe that a lot of traits are genetic. Pretty funny, too, that people will shell out thousands of dollars for a legit mutt. :gig

The photos taken today were done with the discontinued Olympus E-5. The ones of the Western Kingbird were taken with the long discontinued Olympus E-330. If you go to the album page of the photo, you can click on the Information tab below the photo to see what camera was used, what the focal length, aperture, speed and iso were used.

Unfortunately I have not figured out how you can get to the album page from the posted image. In my case, there is a link to my albums in my signature section.
Thanks! I’m (and my brother) always looking for new ways to take pictures, that is incredibly helpful.

What would you consider a comparable model within the Olympus series? The only nice camera I've ever used was my sister's, and it was a Nikon.

He’s my favorite. No secret there. :love

I love his sweet mug. Gator had a sweet mug too lol

Do you have any other pictures of him? Or the other dogs? I love dog pictures LOL do you have any from the side? I bet he’s a moose lol
His nose is always crusted over, we tried to make it more supple and instead it would get his mouth all pimple-y.

I do have more pictures but I’ll have to get them later. They aren’t on my phone

Huh, that’s really weird!! I figured you guys probably already tried a bunch of stuff and/or were aware, you seem really on top of everything and especially being a vet student, but I just figured I’d share that one because it worked really well for Gator and his wasn’t even bad, in the reviews there’s pics of dogs with bloody/really crusty noses it seemed to have helped. It’s all natural so maybe it wouldn’t cause the mouth pimples? Kind of pricey though. And he seems healthy and super happy so I’m sure he’s fine. :)

And okay! That makes sense.

Sounds like that dog needs a vet or a canine neurologist or behavioral specialist lol he seems to have some seriously neurological and/or health issues going on ha

But yeah, most doodles are definitely insane or at least, I think people let them be insane. Get them cause they’re popular and in style and everyone else has one then don’t train it or do anything with it. Everyone has doodles here too. But that said, I do think a lot of them are genuinely insane lol cause people just throw any two dogs together with no care and sell the resulting “doodles” for thousands. And some of the mixes are REALLY bad and don’t mesh well at all and cause problems blended. But that said, I have met some nice ones. Maybe they make nicer ones here lol idk. In my area, there’s actually a doodle breeder or two in town I think and some in the next towns. There’s actually a bunch of doodle breeders near me. And dog breeders of other breeds too.

I bought a bird identification book when we first moved here because there are so many that are different from what either of us grew up seeing. I just kinda lump all the herons into one category, though. Well, except for the night herons which we affectionately call "penguins" (because they have a stocky look while perched watching the water).

We have one at our school...well the librarian has one and she brings the dog to school a few days a week.
I wanted one of her puppies until I found out the price. Thousands of dollars.
Nuts.

Yeah, the price is crazy lol I mean, post purebreds/show dogs are in the thousands too or at least close, but most doodles I’ve seen are like at least double what show breeders of purebred dogs ask and these are MUTTS. Crazy lol you could just go to a shelter and get a doodle for wayyyyy less lol

There are some grandma's that meet up on Tuesday's my park...with thier binoculars. They bird watch.
Maybe they can teach me a few things.

Aw you should definitely go and join them!!

Someone please tell me I have a pair.

YES. THIS. EXACTLY.
I'm convinced the insanity comes from the doodle part. Every single one i've met has been just a bit much, you know?! Also... paying that much for a mutt :gig.
