That's pretty neat. Do they propagate well from cuttings or do most folks just plant the seeds?
I have never tried cuttings but am told that it works. I have also never planted seeds. There may be some truth that the seeds need to pass through a digestive tract. There are thousands of seeds laying on the ground in the guinea run but hey are from olives that dropped and rotted on the ground. Where the birds crapped out the seeds, there are seedlings sprouting all over the place.

It is my belief that the seeds don't get to pass through the digestive tracts of chickens and turkeys and get thoroughly ground up in their gizzards. I base this belief on the fact that I have two Russian Olive trees in my turkey/chicken run, the chickens and turkeys clean up all of the olives and there are no Russian Olive seedlings in that run.

Seems to me that some of y’all are being a bit harsh on Kdog. Lots of people enjoy going out to eat from time to time. And it doesn’t inherently mean that they are rich or financially irresponsible. Personally, I am glad that people like eating at restaurants, otherwise my DH would be out of a job ;) (He is a restaurant chef). Also, restaurant food is inherently more expensive because of overhead costs. If the food is really cheap, it probably means the employees are paid low wages without benefits.

I think it is fantastic that some of you eat only home cooked meals. Congrats, and you keep doin you. But it is kinda crappy to try to shame kdog and her father, just because he took his daughter out for a nice treat. Sure, it wasn’t the healthiest option, but that is a separate issue. Eating out ain’t evil folks. :old

I do agree with you. It doesn’t seem as if she really had much of a choice in the matter either. I just know that I couldn’t eat at the same place in such a short time lol!

Wait...there is two places I could do that. But thankfully both are not in Texas. :gig

oh if it was a nice treat on special occasions that would be great... once a week would be ok... 2x a day every day..plus $50 +of junk snacks from the grocery store gone in less than a week.. not so great for a person's body or saving money.. which she is having issues with and is saying she needs help with.
Sometimes the more expensive restaurants do pay better wages, sometime they don't.. have to know someone to know the truth.. some restaurants have a separate charge for employee health INS on your bill ..According to the news anyway https://yourmileagemayvary.net/2019...charges-to-help-pay-for-employee-health-care/ I would assume the price of the meal should cover the operating costs, which to me should include health care.

Pretty neat, really. Makes sense that they'd be ground to Olive pit powder after traveling through a gizzard.

I don't think anyone here mentioned eating out as "evil".
If someone is going to constantly post about feeling like crap for making bad eating choices, then continue making those same choices, I hardly think pointing out the obvious is shaming.

Yeah I definitely didn’t and didn’t today either because my mom wanted to go pick up her check from the consignment shop cause they keep it after so many days and they didn’t even tell me we were doing that and then we went out down there and yeah.

And yeah, there’s a few I could do that lol

I only post them so I can be accountable and honest and note when I slip up cause I’d rather not lie. Which i thought was a good idea to do. But fine. Next time I’ll just eat shit and not be honest and say yeah I’m doing great with the healthy eating.

Also I personally don’t really feel that shitty about it, my dad and I had a great time last night, and my mom and I had a great time at Outback, but I only do the  thing because I know you guys won’t like it so I say something before anyone else has a chance to

Is there any chance you could start cooking for the family? Even if they don’t eat it at first, eventually they’ll realize that you aren’t going to give into their eating out fantasy?

You could easily look up different meals, start a meal plan, then cook them for everyone. It’d give you something to do, allow you to have a voice in the matter, while also keeping healthier choices on the mind and in the stomach.

Personally meal planning doesn’t work for my family, but it may help with the eating out tendency, though it’s always entirely up to you, I’m just trying to find a solution that helps you have a choice on your food consumption.
