➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

LOL
If you don't eat processed foods you wouldn't have a sodium issue.
So far
I had 6 eggs
A banana
2 cups of veggies
1/4 lb of ground beef
1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce 380ssodium
2 cups of frozen fruit
60 oz of tea
I just finished off a head of raw cauliflower dipped in ranch dressing. It only took me three days to eat it. There are still two heads ready to be picked in the garden. I have to go to town tomorrow and will pick up some jalapenos and garlic so I can make some pickled cauliflower.

I don't eat fast food but I do cook some boxed rice mixes...good God I had no idea how bad they were.

I just ate some Mahi Mahi, no sodium black beans
and broiled, with fresh grated garlic, asparagus with a little salt and pepper and a little olive oil.
I made the rice because I had it but I won't be buying it anymore.
Processed, prepared, and the various types of convenience foods are loaded, as a general rule. And when the item is labeled "low sodium", that just means they substituted potassium salt for the sodium salt. It's still salt your body will need to eliminate. SIL has kidney disease so she's not supposed to have any of it. But then she eats at restaurants quite a bit and they use MUCH more salt than I would at home.

I just had a slice of "salvaged peach" pie. The tree tried hard this year so I picked some a bit green and just went with it. I didn't even peel them, just got what was fit to eat until I had a full food processor and chopped it up. I helped it along with a bit more sugar than I'd use with fully ripe fruit and 1/8tsp of mace as suggested by Fannie Farmer. It's actually GOOD! I might need an antacid now but yum!

So far I have never been able to grow cauliflower. It never makes a head. I didn't try this year.
Garlic I can grow. About 300 heads a year.. same amount of onions too

@honanbm , @WVduckchick Conan and everyone else - wound up with a stray Rouen hen. Keeping her isolated for a week quarantine. DD decided we needed ducks. We can debate whether I'm spoiling her later.

Options:
1. Hatching would take a month. Considering.
2. Several craigslisters have ducklings and drakes for sale. Not a fan of drakes, but an option. Rouens, cayuga-mallard cross, muscoy, Swedish, Appleyard.
3. Have Kiki hatch baluts. Never been more tempted.
4. Have Kiki kidnap pond ducks. Caveat here is that Batty and I want to film it. This is my preferred option. Batty will bring her hand crank movie camera down. Think Keystone Cops. We need a piano player. $50 says Kiki ends up in the pond. :lau

What breed duck would you suggest?

Requirements for a backyard duck hider.
1. Quiet.
2. Eggs. Eggs would be great.
3. Meat. Although several other household members have decided we don't eat pets. So the new ones will be meaties.
4. Vicious with great big fangs to change the mind of household members. See #3. No geese.
5. Mow the yard. I'm dreaming.:thumbsup

Muscovy are quite and taste like beef I have heard. Are ugly so easier to do the deed. But any crosses would be sterile... I would try them if I build another coop LOL

You want the yard mowed, you gotta go with the aforementioned vicious geese.
Mine are big fat sweeties that lay big fat dumps all over the place. They are still downy, but are getting their feathers in. They are already larger than my standard ducks, including my big fat Rouen.
Speaking of Rouens. AWESOME. Mine is quiet, big, an excellent layer of large eggs, and friendly. The friendly part might ruin the whole "meat" thing for you depending on how soft your heart is.
Welshies. Best ducks in a group ever. Quiet, excellent layers. Varying sizes. Unless you want ducklings, skip the drakes. They are just trouble makers.

Personally, I'd go with Craigslist. Ducks aren't really disease carrying like chickens, and getting an adult duck is great, especially the first go around. Ducklings are adorable, but they are seriously disgusting.
I can't speak to Muscovy ducks, but people really seem to love them! I hear nothing but good things about them. If I could get past their ugly faces, I might try some one day.

Ugh. Read, Conan. Ducks AREN'T disease carriers.

Everyone.

No one in particular...I have just been racking my brain for the last few days with this stuff and needed to see if anyone else would be willing to get a headache with me.
Definitely increase the potassium and watch the salt.

I should mention that I have been eating pretty healthy for years.
Someone else here sneaks fast food and eats other crap that I specifically for him.

Things changed today.
So the SO has food causing numbers issues.
Daughter has lost 40 pounds on the KETO diet. Cut her carbs with no sugar, no bread, selected fruits and vegetables and a changed a few more things.
Got her best heart scan report.

Makes more better sense.

Everyone talks up the muscovy. Crazy Lady thinks they are vicious. She wants the cuddly ones (???).

Adult ducks. 3 for $50. Rouens.
Ducklings $5 a pop.
See who responds. Most are an hour away. Not that desparate.

This is a wild detour. But all according to the prophecy.
