If you tell me the exact feeds that you buy or can buy or will buy I'll put them next to each other and you could look at them next to each other...one a sheet.

Thanks. This is helpful. Though I think they changed the formula or at least the protein cause it’s 20% now at least for the pellets.

They’re all somewhat the same though, right? Or no? They all work for adults right? I can’t see the signature on mobile but I think I read it a while ago. But I do know when I read the tags on both the Flock Raiser and this this time, the All Flock has higher calcium than the Flock Raiser. Not sure what the calcium level in their starter is. It also had 20% protein which I think is up from what it used to be? I think it used to be 18.
Turn your phone sideways and tell me if you can see the signatures then, please.

I just use Purina Flock Raiser at the moment. I just got excited for a moment because I prefer the pellets instead of the crumbles and I thought that may be an alternative feed choice since I have a difficult time getting it in pellet form. If that makes sense.

I think they will both work fine. In fact, I actually think Purina Flock Raiser is closer to their chick feed than Nutrena All Flock is to theirs. Purina the calcium and everything is almost exactly the same. It’s higher in the All Flock. And they also raised the protein to 20%. I will take a picture of the tag when I get home.

If you look closely, Purina Flock Raiser differs quite a bit from their chick starter. The lysine, methionine and niacin levels needed by poultry other than chickens is noticeably higher in the Flock Raiser than it is in the chick starter. Flock Raiser has these higher levels because Purina knows that other poultry do need higher levels than chickens need.

Thanks. That’s true, I never noticed that part. Tbh I don’t really usually pay much attention to the other numbers since I only have chickens.

But I think all the chick starter/grower and all flock/flock raiser type feeds are very similar to each other as compared to layer feeds, right? Like you still need to feed extra oyster shells/calcium to layers with any of them. Of course I do that anyway even when I feed them later feed but still. They should all work, won’t they?

AS long as you are only dealing with chickens, yes. If you are dealing with mixed flocks, chick starter is only good for chicken chicks. It is not appropriate for quail chicks which is where gamebird starters and all flock or flock raiser feeds are appropriate.
