I’ll tell ya what’s really killin’ me... the fact I can’t wash my hands.

I’m a tad bit obsessive and always wash them a bazillion times a day.

I can still wash my eyes though at least.

Really, though, you'll be fine, K. I didn't even rinse the last dog bite I got. It'd already scabbed up by the time I was near a water source again. Worst that (realistically) happens is it does get infected and you get a round of antibiotics. Immune systems can take a pounding if they're uncompromised. A year or two ago I stepped on a rusty nail buried in the most putrid chicken muck you can imagine! Healed fine. No issues.

I do not pick off scabs, by the way. I have zero medical training, haven't even done a google search, but my gut instinct is that infection risks are worse if I do, particularly if the skin underneath is not yet healed. I know some people do it to, I dunno, clean the wound? Not sure. Never seemed like a good idea to me.

x2. Kels, I suggest ordering your coffin through Amazon Prime and not through some cheap backwoods shady site. It might be more expensive, but the rush shipping will be worth it unless you wanna get nibbled on by the dogs after.

Case in point....neighbor is currently in ICU...ran a dirty pair of scissors through skin into his left hand and index finger top knuckle last Tuesday working on dog pen. Used only HP and alcohol then went back to his task.
He did finally wash it and used Epsom salts. But infection set in with red swelling. Saw a clinic doc Saturday for antibiotics. Sunday morning seriously low blood sugar and infection sent him to the ER in nearby town. After stable, transported by ambulance to OKC where surgery on hand by a specialist was done Monday. Yesterday moved to ICU with mild heart attack. Waiting on more hand surgery if wbc count goes down and infection improves. Wife said he had a rough day today so far....asked for prayers.

Yikes. Sorry for your neighbor! Hope he heals quickly without further complications.
I’ll admit I don’t often practice what I preach on my own wounds lol.
Sure, I’ve never had a wound go septic and needed a limb amputated, but I know it’s a real risk and sh*t happens. I’d rather scare someone into being safe than risk the small chance of a disaster.

Key words being "make sure it bleeds", "stop bleeding using pressure" and "minor wounds".
Neighbor's cut was 1/2 inch deep puncture between pointer finger and middle finger. He said it bled like a stuck pig. Thought that was good enough. He taped the two fingers together since he was needing to finish his task.
Problem is deep wounds can often seal on the surface and without proper cleaning can fester inside.
Didn't help that he is diabetic and has a heart condition.

Puncture wounds can be an issue and must not be sealed off as they need to heal from the inside. When they are sealed off, it does not allow for proper drainage and can cause serious infections.

For minor ones it’s probably fine

I am confident that what I consider minor for me is not likely what you would consider minor. One of my minor wounds was when I accidentally stabbed myself in the leg. I completely buried the 2 3/4" blade in my leg. I allowed it to bleed well, stopped the bleeding with pressure and it healed fine.

To be fair, the risk of knife wound becoming infected is arguably much less than an animal bite.

nah you're paranoid because you dont have much real world experience. How to handle even the simplest situations. You need life skills. Employment would be a good start to get you some. I feel for you when something a lil more serious happens. Doesn't seem to affect your typing ability
