➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Would there be a way to separate it from my flock? If it's a Pullet, it could still lay good eggs, correct?
It could but if it really is poor genetics, it may not lay enough eggs to be worthwhile and in order to make sure its genetics don't get passed along, it is necessary to positively know which eggs it laid so they don't get incubated.

It is just not worth it to waste feed and care on a bird that has poor genetics.

Okay thanks. My husband said we will see what happens along the way. He doesn't want me to have to take special care of a chicken. He said if it can't thrive then we will do like we did to the duck with the spine defect and off it.

I'll name it Clops for now... Short for Cyclops 😂

This actually isn't the bad eggs (free eggs). These are from the organic farm that are down the road and I have never had any issues with any of their chicks. I get 90% hatch rate from them usually and they're very nice chicks. This is the first time I've had issues with them.
Yeah I have problems culling birds I have doctored . Too easy to get attached. I have a jake that had both feet with crooked toes. Now he has one toe on one foot that's bad. Not sure what I am going to do with him, since he follows me around and hobbles to me when he is being picked on.
Probably will sell him as Easter dinner

I offed my Muscovy I cared for. I was relieved to see it not suffering anymore.

Take a pair of scissors and snip the webbing between 2 of the toes. Itll be marked for life and heals fine
Like a toe punch
I already named the dumb thing 🙈 I will say my muscovy was named too and I literally had to care for it more than just feed and water... I offed it with my husband by my side and didn't suffer any trauma from it so I think I can handle offing Clops if it gets worse or can't thrive.

I cooked the last batch of eggs in my Instapot for 5 minutes instead of 6. They came out great. I had 35 eggs in all.

I hurt myself in strange ways too. When in grammar school I broke my arm on the monkey bars and the the next year broke my teeth off slipping on ice playing four square...It was a tragic four square accident!
I am always hurting myself in ways I don't want to explain. I was in the chicken run and looked up and saw a wasp nest above my head. My top turned to run faster than my legs and I nose planted on the ground and broke a rib and my glasses. Next time, I was moving some cinder blocks, trying to hurry and tripped, took three running steps try to recover, didn't and face planted on the gate. Concussion, cut above the eye on that one. My Dr. says chickens are a danger to my health. lol
