I securely hang a heat lamp from three supports over the water tub/containers in the hen house And brooder room in the barn. Two feet from the water surface keep water from freezing and keeps the area more comfortable.

We drip water every cold spell and leave cabinet door propped open. Also detach and drain all hoses.
