I had acorns in a plastic bag on the kitchen counter for over a year when I noticed they were sprouting. No, I was not trying to germinate them.you can plant citrus seeds after they've dried, too. We just throw them into the impatiens planters.. We always have too many baby trees to plant out. Apple and pear seeds have sprouted for me, but not maple or acorns.
Chestnuts would'nt sprout for me by the "months in the fridge" method, but I got 3 trees by direct planting them out in my woodlot.go figure.
