13 Black Copper Marans (13 unplanned)

I may be going back to buy an incubator or two, she has a few disabled Sportsman 1500 series up there. In other news my new Sportsman clone is two days from done.

To do it right I should fill both incubators and then wonder why I can't move the chicks in the winter.

Day five candling pics. I know it's early but I REALLY wanted to know. Out of 23 eggs, 3 are clear. 20 look like this one. Please tell me what you think! Is that viable? I can't see veining so I'm not sure but I'm sure that it has done something since I set them 5 days ago. Is this a blood island or a blood ring?

It looks like a clear to me, but keep it in until day 7 or 8 and recheck

I'd resist any change to any egg before day 7, I usually try to wait to candle until day 10.

I don't see anything wrong with the eggs pictured, just don't see any development.

If any of you struggle with the tracking via a spreadsheet/weight. I've been using one that I made and you are welcome to watch it and ask questions. I'd even help you copy it via a PM.

My eggs are dark and I can't see a lot so I just wait till at least day 10 when development is obvious and clears are obvious.
Unless they leak or stink, I never get in a hurry to pull them.

Cindy, they are all of the same egg. I agree that something is/was going on because I have 3 clear that look just like they did on day zero. Then I have 20 that look like this. I can't see any veins or little dot but they all look like they have done something... just not sure if they started and had catastrophic failure or if they are viable and it's too early to see veins. I'm so deflated because I expected to see viens based on other pics I see of day 5 candling. It's a 4000 lumen flashlight so it's about as bright as I can get. Not giving up! No one gets tossed until day 18... I just hoped for better. At any rate, it's either really good or REALLY bad! The incubator seems to be working great... no malfunctions that I have discovered so I don't know what to think.

Just have patience. Except for verifying temperature and turning, ignore them for a while.
