Cindy, they are all of the same egg. I agree that something is/was going on because I have 3 clear that look just like they did on day zero. Then I have 20 that look like this. I can't see any veins or little dot but they all look like they have done something... just not sure if they started and had catastrophic failure or if they are viable and it's too early to see veins. I'm so deflated because I expected to see viens based on other pics I see of day 5 candling. It's a 4000 lumen flashlight so it's about as bright as I can get. Not giving up! No one gets tossed until day 18... I just hoped for better. At any rate, it's either really good or REALLY bad! The incubator seems to be working great... no malfunctions that I have discovered so I don't know what to think.

Keep them in and see what happens. Maybe they’re magical eggs

Hi, I'm here with my 21 Light Sussex eggs, that just arrived today in the post. and a first timer with shipped eggs. I ordered 20 and got a spare from the breeder. He packed them really well, so no cracks or broken ones, so we've got over that hurdle at least... They are sitting in an egg flat at the moment. Here in Europe they only make 10er packaging for eggs, stupid for 21 eggs,, so I think I'll incubate them in the egg flat because it has room for 30 eggs.

It only took two days to get here, and I think the breeder gave me his freshest eggs, by the look of them. The ones I take from my own flock look like these ones before the go into the incubator. That saying, we will see how they actually develop once they start incubating.

I wouldn't worry yet. Some eggs are harder to see into than others & I've personally found the visually textured ones (like in your pic) tricky. People use cell phone lights (pinpoint) to see into quail eggs. You might try that next time. I hadn't thought about using them for the difficult chicken eggs until this moment, but it may work for you.

What breed are they? Did they come from within DE or somewhere else in the EU?
Will you still be able to turn them often?
Breeders shipping hatching eggs should always send the freshest eggs they have for any possibility of success.

I’m hatching more ducklings!! I have hatched 30 or over this year and I was planning to not hatch any more but I had 2 broody ducks a I let one sit on a few I put a another duck with her to keep her company well the company duck started to lay in the nest and know she has 7 eggssnd I let the laying duck out (so no more eggs so I thought)!! And the other broody duck that I was not going to let hatch decide that she was going to hatch eggs and secretly made a hidden nest! well I found it so she has 8 eggs! So I’m hatching more this year!

Mine are due August 5th, congrats on yours fingers crossed you have a good hatch rate!

12 out of 22 is better than 9-10 and only six hatching tiny first candling victory!!!

Well....looks like I am hatching quite a bit in August after all. I might even have to have my in laws watch the incubators as DH decided we are going to try and go on vacay after all. (When he said we weren't I had decided to hatch more eggs....dang it!) I think I lost track of posting what all I was planning on hatching. I kind of went on a shopping spree and came really close to buying more than my 2 incubators will hold. (Oops!)

I have assorted bantams due on the 1st. Blue Birchen Marans due the 2nd. Opal Legbars due the 3rd. Gold Cuckoo Marans and Silver Deathlayers due the 7th. Blue laced barnevelders, Welsummers, and my bresse from Georgia due the 8th. Bresse from Texas due the 9th. And Silverudds due the 10th. I also got an offer from the person I ordered Swedish Flower Hen eggs from back in June (that got shaken up really bad in transport) for free eggs if I pay shipping. I told them I would take them up on the offer....but I could not take them until Thursday as I would not have room in the incubator. I also told them the "secret way" to ship them to me (because they will come from North Carolina - the region I have had such a hard time getting eggs from). I have yet to hear if they are up to sending them the way I requested or not.

I was given some eggs on Monday and after candling I have 7 I think are due around the 4th. Not exactly sure just how far along there are because they had been under a broody at another farm. But from my experience they look to be on day 7-10. Might lockdown just a little early to be sure. Also my beilefelder eggs shipped Monday from Skywalker. Should be here Thursday!
