🐝💗Our Backyard Beekeeping Journey!💗🐝

We are definitely noticing a strong smell coming from the hives. So far it doesn't smell like anything died, but it's not my favorite.
Too bad, I can't record the smell and share it with everyone, I'm sure you'd appreciate it...lol

My hives smell wonderful when I walk by them. I can almost taste the honey the aroma is so thick.

I've never used it with the bees, but it is indispensable for my chicken duties. I use the white light when I open and lock up the coop, because I don't want to stumble over anything in the semi-darkness.
I have electricity in my coops. If it is dark thirty, I turn on the lights.

I haven't smelled anything near the hives. The girls have been all over the buckwheat I planted, and now the goldenrod is starting.

Hoping we get 6-8 full frames of honey tomorrow! :fl
You're fortunate that the smell isn't coming through...yet...lol

I'm hoping we'll have the same as you. My husband is sick, so I'm not sure what day we'll pull frames. Hopefully Saturday or Sunday. I don't really want to do it by myself.

We're going to pull individual frames. Even an 8 frame deep can be heavy if it has honey in it. We know there are at least 2 fully capped frames, and I'm betting on 4, and hoping for 6. And 8...? 😍

Hubby doesn't want to try to lift the box. He has been having some back issues, and there's no way I can lift it. Even if we both lifted, he's afraid of tweaking something, so we're going to be safe rather than sorry.

The hive is 3 deeps tall, on top of two layers of cinder blocks.

Weight and a messed up shoulder are the reasons why the president of our bee club runs all medium boxes.
