🐝💗Our Backyard Beekeeping Journey!💗🐝

What's the benefit of a double nuc? I'm guessing from the pictures that it's like two 5-frame nucs, end-to-end?
Its 5 frames on top of each other. They are easy to manage, fun to inspect and a constant source of extra queens, bees, comb, and brood. You can replace dead outs and raise queens in the spring. I don't have to buy bees or queens.

Is that a current picture? Pretty, but 🥶❄️❄️❄️

I'm not going to complain, it's still pretty moderate here. We've had a lot of years like this. In fact snow used to be unusual. So far I'm not seeing any sign of snow. Sometimes we never get any and in those years, if we do get any, it melts of quickly. Our coldest months are usually January and February.

More folks interested in bees. Was at the town hall today (DUMP) and was approached by someone who lives further down the road from us. Stopping in tomorrow for a quick overview, cost, what's involved. Weather will be warm enough they can get a look in the top super, and of course DW will gift them a pound of fall extracted honey. May have to think of doing a couple of NUKs along with my own split. Oh, and all of you talking of snow, IT'S ALL YOUR'S!
