We were in the middle of the lake, and I was dragging the bait around a buoy marker, and somehow got caught on its anchor cable. I pulled a little too hard and it snapped! I swear, it felt like it was just about to release, but I was mistaken.
Valuable lesson learned.... Don't pull so hard next time.

Well, the action in my current ones leave a little to be desired. Im after a stronger one to take on more of these View attachment 1582212that was over 10 lbs and my rod only just about held up

Nvm. That species has nothing to do with Africa and everything to do with Europe. By other posts, I'm guessing you live in the UK and most likely Britain/Ireland/Wales
