1 1/2 yo RIR w/large squishy crop, dark green droppings, cold feet/comb/wattles, etc...

has your hens started laying yet and in the second picture you sent you could see some lining of some type it could be cancer of some type or it could be coccidiosis she seems to have most of the symptoms except a few cant give you any links right now but i think that is what she has or a different type like that.

You may want to go ahead and worm them all, or give them some Corid for possible coccidosis, which is usually more common in younger chickens, but can affect any age if they have some immunity problems. Probiotics in the water afterward would help get the gut bacteria back to normal.

Okay, I'm trying to get some flubenvet but having a hard time finding it. I do have Corid on hand. If I start them on corid how long should I wait to worm them? Aside from injury this is my first crisis with the big girls. I'm afraid to treat for the wrong thing and afraid to not treat as they are clearly sick! Also, thank you for the necropsy info. Everything was right there in the post!

Thanks for the response minichicks05. Yes, they have been laying for quite some time now. I'll have to go back and look at the pic. In my panic I must have missed it. Sure hope it's not cancer. I do have meds for coccidiosis so that's something to be grateful for! Thanks again :)

-Update

Necropsy results from the Turlock lab indicated fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome in our Orp. No internal or external parasites, no cocci, etc. Fecal results on our RIR and feed testing are still pending. Preliminary report should be ready Monday or Tuesday. I feel awful about the whole thing as I am known to treat my girls often. We are in the process of making dietary changes and expanding their run. Any suggestions on a good balanced feed would be appreciated. We are currently using Nutrena Country Feeds Poultry Feed pellets. As for our sick RIR..she seems to be doing much better. I will be keeping her inside until I receive results on her fecals. Thank you for walking me through this stressful time. It is greatly appreciated.

I whould buy some aloe detox from “lilly of the desert and start giving 4ml buy mouth every day , you can buy this at most health food stores and its is an amazing products and has fixed two of my girls livers as they had the beginings of fatty liver disease and gout , this really works and alows the liver to flus toxins out of the body plus contains milkthistle which works to regenerate a diseased liver, as for your girl with the crop problem try giving her two doucosate sodium capsules along with 5ml of red wine this has always worked with any crop issues I've had , cheak her crop again first thing in morning and if it hasent cleared repeat with the doucosate and wine , it whould be really good to start that girl on the aloe asap, after opening the aloe detox you must keep it refrigerated and use within six months, I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you chickenstar! So grateful for your response and advice :). I'll pick those things up today and order what I can't find online. You know, I didn't think my girls were obese. In fact I thought they were a little on the thin side as their keel felt quite prominent. Obviously I have a lot to learn. Thanks again for your guidance.
