I need to find heavy gauge (10 to 12) 1/2 inch hardware cloth for a new cage. All the local big box stores have is the flimsy stuff in 22 gauge. I'm in Virginia and hoping someone here can direct me to a a VA or mail order supplier that sells smaller than 100 foot rolls of the stuff.

PS - this is for the floor of a long bunny run, not chicken housing.

This is what I used. I could find it locally but it was crazy high, and then tax on top of that... It was much cheaper to order offline and have shipped. Plus I had to get a 100ft roll and a 50ft roll. I think this company has ever 25ft? It was pretty nice stuff.

Hope this helps

Go online to Lowes.com. They have hardware cloth in several heights and lengths. Or, try a local farm and home store which will definitely have some.

I've never come across that heavy of gauge hardware cloth, seems you would not be able to manage with that kind of strength?

if you're in richmond i would be surprised if pleasant's hardware doesn't have it.

it might not be 10 or 12, but it's heavier than 19 - maybe 14 or 16. Looks like I'll have to go with the standard 1" x 1/2" wire floor instead. I know where to find that in big rolls, shippped, which will cost a fortune.

Already tried TSC, SS, Lowes and Home Depot.

Will check Pleasants if they're still in business.

I got my 1/4" hardware cloth in 100' rolls from wayfair.com. I have a lot of predators to deal with and this is very strong. I don't know what the guage was though.

The sturdiest hardware cloth tends to be around 19 gauge (the higher the number, the thinner the wire). Wayfair.com has this in 19 gauge and it's pretty sturdy. A 36" wide by 100 foot roll is a few cents under $100 (free shipping).

When you're going to, say, 12 or 14 gauge you're looking at welded wire, not hardware cloth.
