1 female jap with bald back

Hi

We have 5 indoor quails. But recently 1 female has a bald spot just below her wings on her back.

She keeps getting sawdust stuck to it.

Any ideas?

Keep out of sawdust till healed ? Switch bedding for a lil while ? @Kiki @Nabiki @FloorCandy

I tried that. No avail. Could it be that she is georges ( our male) fav ? I was thinking his feet scratching her?

No I would not remove her.
Can you get a picture or three of your cage set up please?

Do they have places to hide in there? That might help.

What are you feeding them?

Can you watch this video and pay attention to the red basket.

Can you find some things around your house to put in there to make little hiding spots similar to this red basket.

Also notice my fake plants it gives them something to hide under.


If you can add a few hiding type things it might help.

I have 5. Should I seperate her alone or give her another girl for company ?

Separating her isn't going to fix the problem.

They are currently indoors as the they were only hatched in sept. So waiting for weather to warm up. They have 2 connected boxes ( with chicken wire windows. Totalling 1.5 meter by 1 meter.
They come out twice a day for 2 hours to run around the house too
