#1 Recommended breed to new keeper?

This is my first flock, so I have limited experience however;
My EEs have great personalities but have stopped laying for the winter(can’t wait for the color to come back to my basket)
My RIRs have been laying great despite the cold and little light, but can be a little bossy, no fights just the occasional peck.
My Wyandotte’s are pretty average in both temperment and laying and so is my Orpington but she was a slower start to laying.
I love all my Chicky chickens so I can’t chose a favorite!

Chanteclers or Leghorns. Both of those breeds are hardy, productive birds with balanced temperaments, 'street sense', and good looks. The latter may not always be very good pet material, but I need my birds to take care of themselves, and they excel at that.

Thank you, that's Carey. He has some of the most luxuriant feathering I've seen on a chicken. It's quite stunning in person, though the camera doesn't pick it up nearly so well.
This doesn't show off his shape very well, but it catches some of the feather shine.

Such a beautiful deep red color on him. Almost looks like he has white saddle feathers. He has a really nice chest for a Chantecler. tail's nice and low, i'm pretty jealous. I'm assuming you breed Chanteclers ?

Yes, I'm starting to. I had bad luck this year and only got three pullets out of him.

Got lots of color and flame on him. Nice thick legs though, Very pretty bird none-the less.

...and his other brother, who had a colouring more like judges nowadays go for, and a perfectly smooth comb. Unfortunately, winter took its toll on him, and showed him to be sickly and lacking vigour.

Great body shape, Such a shame. I love his head~ You've got a really nice flock there.
