My cockerel Rudy is a salmon favorelle. He was raised by a broody adoptive momma. I had him and his 2 sisters in a chicken tractor with mom and planned to add to adult coop. We ended up having mites/live so we dusted and treated with permethrin. Then dusted again in 8 days and added them to the coop ( also sprinkled DE). We left them cooped for 4 days (we typically let our chickens free range) I worked 12hr shifts the last 2 days and went out after work to check for food water etc. no problems the first two days but last night noticed he was hiding in our nesting box when I went to get eggs. It was about 9 pm and I assumed I woke up so he was just siting there and looking up st me. So I left him. This morning I opened the coop and he was hiding, acting odd so I got him and separated him. Posted on BYC and everyone said he looked sick. I recently put in a nipple waterer but was worried they might not figure it out so had a normal waterer in the run area. I also had a hanging feeder and one feeder on the ground. I’m worried the water got contaminated. I removed it this morning.

- he is the only bird having symptoms
-no signs of trauma
-11 am I separated and fed. He drank for a long time! And ate a few bites of yoke and food. Then pooped ( I’ll post picture) mucous, blood and white
- put in dog cage in house, added ground beef but he has no interest. Been seeing wet areas in cage but no solid poop. I don’t have any puppy pads but scooped out bedding and looked. Will post picture of tiny smear on paper towel.
- planning to get some corid and treat water and give orally. Probably some save a chick probiotic, and possibly a dewormer but might wait to see what everyone says.
- plan to treat other chickens
-no close vet.. I’m very worried I’m going to loose him. Please help.

I would get the Corid with in the next hour if possible.
He looks very ill with coccidiosis.
Get the liquid and give him three drops immediately AND
Mix 2 teaspoons if it with a gallon of water.

Greetings Jjdesmo11,

KikisGirls, has given you a treatment plan, but, do not give any vitamin supplements while treating with Corid.

The vitamins will counteract the effectiveness of the Corid.

However, do administer a vitamin supplement after the course of amprolium is completed.

I will say a prayer for your little boy, that he recovers soon.

God Bless :)

So sweet! I do need prayers for him. I added a probiotic (save a chick) to the water. He hasn’t been drinking but will that counter act the Corid? I also gave him Corid via syringe. He’s pretty weak but I feel like his comb has more color to it thanks sweet friends! I want to talk to my friends or post on FB but not a lot of people understand unless they also have chickens.. they make fried chicken jokes Anyways they are my babies.. and I also have two human babies as well. Hoping for more energy and eating tomorrow!

I did give him .1ml via syringe of the undiluted Corid. So approximately 3 drops? I was dosing based on another BYC posters help. I’ll post pictures of that and the probiotic. So worried about this guy. His stool is blood tinged watery. I have to work tomorrow so I’ll have to have my husband keep an eye on him if he makes it through the night
Can you take a picture of this Sav a Chick package and post it here.
You should NOT be giving vitamins while using Corid.

Did you give him three drops of undiluted Corid too?

Have you given him another dose of the undiluted Corid again today?
If not do it.

I would hold off on the probiotics for now, save them til after the round of Corid.

If he isn't drinking the Corid water it isn't going to do him any good.

Use some of the Corid water and mix it in a small amount of feed to make it oatmeal like so he can take in more of the Corid water when he eats.
