Emma is the one who's trying to matchmake everyone else and ends of matched herself... in the film version Emma was played by Gwyneth Paltrow.

Jane Eyre has the crazy looney wife in the attic that keeps trying to burn down the house.

P&P is the one with ALL the sisters and the rather crass mom trying to marry them all off... Mr Darcy and Lizzy... great couple.

S&S... includes a VERY vapid annoying CHIT of a character that I just want to slap silly... and then the sensible sister who has to try and manage the brat.

Then of course there's Wuthering Heights... that one just made me so MAD! Horrible people in it...

I haven't picked up a recreational reading/fiction book since graduating high school. Everything now is boring, bland, convoluted peer reviewed primary research literature or text books.

However, I do remember reading a few of those on the list. I particularly enjoyed the works of George Orwell and Catch22.

My favorite memory was of the class projects we did in middle school for lord of the flies. As "good students", we didn't get in trouble for bringing a raw pigs head on a stick to class, or using fake braided hair to bind our project books together.

I am surprised at the number of books on here that I have read. Didn't realize it was as many as I thought. There are a few that I would never read again, but there are many that I read over and over. The only thing I see wrong with this is it has The Chronicles of Narnia on one line, then it has The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on another line. If you have the series down, one single book shouldn't be on there as well.
 
I've been reading since I was a kid and many of these were required reading in school. Any adult who has only read 6 of these, it makes me wonder what kind of English Lit teachers they had?
