I hate the mosquitoes in Louisiana!!!!! They are so big and they are fierce. During mosquito season (every day it's hot), I go out in full armor. I wear a long sleeve lined wind breaker, long warm up pants, gloves, a ski mask, a hat, long socks and boots. I have to cover ever inch of my body. If not, they will eat me alive. And I feel so sorry for the birds because as they try to sleep, the mosquitoes are eating them alive. Their combs are dripping with blood. It's horrible. That's what I fog and mist their coops every single night.

Here is a pic of a skeeter that I killed September 2011. And this is a small one. They are even bigger than that.

Fogger. This is what I use to fog the perimeter of my property.

They need a dark period. Perhaps long enough for them to eat what's in there. The light will just attract more though.

That's what I figured. I feel bad for the buggers.

I've seen quite a few of those monsters around here, there are horrendous. Most are the small black ones, but lately it's been bigger brown ones. It's kind of depressing during the summer when the kids are in the house most of the day because it's so hot, then by the time it starts to cool down, the mosquitos go into a frenzy.

Thats how I am about Pickled pigs feet..... Oh and the ham hock from the beans.... Mom and I grab up the marrow bones .... Yummy.

I love all of those. Can't really buy pickled pigs feet anymore. The family tend to retch when they see the jar.

Exactly. I bought a fire pit during Black Friday so that I can burn fire wood during the summer to smoke them out. Louisiana has the Tiger Mosquitoes. And they are deadly.

Bat houses are easy to build.  Here There used to be alot of them....  wed ride for an evening ride out in the hills.  As we rode the horses would scare up buts and the bats would swoup around eating the bugs as we rode. 

I havent seen a bat in a while.  Usually they swoup around street lights.  Ours migrate up from Mexico,

I have heard there fore its not verified  that the same fungus killing bats has been found in honey bees.

The burning ? is do ppl really eat these and if so WHY? Ive heard rumor some do but recently I saw them at Walmart so maybe its true!?? What.do they taste like

During the depression they were used for soup stock as well as eaten. I haven't tried eating them but I do on occasion make a stock with them. It's not something I would go out and buy but if it is there I will use it.

That's what I plan on doing - making stock.

chicken feet are loaded with all that stuff that makes chicken stock jell.  they are very good for you.

The stock is so rich its just like gelatin when you are done.

My granny used to love them and would gnaw and suck on them to get out all the juices.  I've never tried one but if I do the chicken feet of my spring meaties I'll try one and let you know!  My dog thinks they are the best of the best!
