Yes that is what I'm afraid of and culling, especially peas is very hard for me. I will try to get it to go back into place and I will give him a day or two. This is the only part I hate about raising chicks.
Me too.

The egg being larger and the chick being dark and big are very good signs. Green peafowl do have larger eggs and also the peachicks are larger and darker then other peafowl. It should be like a dark chocolate color with maybe a greyish brown look even. I am not sure about the leg color when they have just hatched, but eventually it will have dark grey legs. If it is a true Java it will develop very vibrant blue on its wings even if it is a female. It will be very fun watching it grow up and get colorful. I hope you post photos of it growing up frequently. We don't get many green peafowl photos and we especially don't get many green peachick photos so it will be a real treat! I hope all of the peachicks are doing good! Some good news...one of the Javas has hatched! The other has pipped and is chirping, so I think it has a good chance of hatching. I hope they don't have leg problems! The one that is hatched is so dark, almost black and he is a big chick. The eggs were quite a bit larger than the ibs and bs. Will post pics when the other hatches. Thanks for the moral support. I had to put in an emergency call to Dr. L (Lacrystol). I think I panicked a little too early, but as usual she calmed me down and set me on the right path. Now if I can keep from chewing off all my nails waiting for the little slow poke!
