100% hatch rate on shipped eggs!

Yeah its still great that you hatched one, i got 10 eggs from my java pen no one was fertile, maybe next year will be better, and yes they have grey legs when they hatch.

I have heard that the greens can be more difficult to breed. A nearby peafowl breeder had a pair of greens (someone said they are not pure, if they are not they were very high %). Anyways he told me he has never gotten peachicks from the pair, and the peacock died recently. Now he has a blackshoulder peacock penned with the green peahen.

Yeah agree, and they seems to need larger pen also, mine isn't large enough, any idea why his peacock died? Green peacock seems to be hardy!

Josh told me the greens are very hardy.

I think this green peacock died from old age. I believe he had the pair for a looong time. I also think his pen was too small for them so that could have been the reason why he never got chicks. That or the peacock was obsessed with fence fighting a free-range blackshoulder. Sometimes I would visit and the pair would be feather picked and the peacock never had a full crest because of it. I think the peahen loved to peck off the male's crest. In fact I think the blackshoulder that is her replacement mate no longer has a crest now.

I got a couple of pics of my little Java today. He seems to be perfect in every way. I'm in love already!

Congrats and good luck with batch number two!

I'm going to get out the scale tomorrow, but I can tell that he already outweighs the ibs by quite a bit. He's a little chunk! Sadly, I had to put down the little one with the swollen hock. The leg was rotating and he was shaking. I could tell that he was in pain. Not a great experience

. Now my little white chick seems to have an eye infection in both eyes. I put some antibiotic salve on it after soaking off most of the discharge. That's the only bad part of hatching so many at once. I've also got one with crooked toes that I have put sandals on twice. He manages to get them off. Going to make a new plan in the morning!

Aww what a cute little Java! Even the chick's head shape looks like it might be a bit different compared to the other chicks. That is another thing to look for is green peafowl have a more triangular shaped head. Do you know the Pennsylvania breeder's name you got the Java eggs from or do they have a website or anything? You can PM it to me if you don't want to put it on here. Green peafowl can be expensive and it is far more cheaper to get them as eggs or very young peachicks. It is just hard finding someone selling pure green peafowl eggs or chicks.

Could I ask for some advice?
I am new to trying to hatch peafowl. I have a Hova Bator with turner. I put 2 thermometers in it and a hygrometer. I keep the temp at 99.5 to 100F. The hygrometer stays between 60 and 70 percent.

I purchased 6 eggs online. 5 developed full stage but never hatched. One was a complete dud. Then, I bought 4 eggs from a local peafowl farm. All developed, none hatched. Then I had a woman give me 2 eggs to hatch. One developed but never hatched. The other was a dud. THEN, I had another woman give me 9 white bobwhite eggs. All developed. Three didn't hatch. The other all hatched. She also gave me 2 peafowl eggs. Both developed. Have not hatched and we are at day 37. At day 30, one was rocking a lot. Nothing since. No pip holes or marks at all. Just nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Also, I candle at day 14 and do not touch them again until 3 days before they are due to hatch. I remove the turner and place them on the bottom of the incubator.
