Hi everyone,
I am new duck mom and embracing the opportunity to learn as much as possible about these guys / girls. They are 11 weeks old ( estimate ), shedding feathers everywhere, found our pond and are very happy.

I believe we have all Rouen - I am guessing we have 3 females; due to the more brown tail feathers, compared to the 9 males with 'green tint' to their head in the sunlight.

My question for you all - there are 3 different color bill types amongst them all.
1) Dark brown / gray / black
2) Bright Orange
3) Light brown

What does this mean if anything?
Thank you in advance for your wisdom and advice!

You will know very soon if not already by tail curls in males. You should be able to tell by voices already, which are male and female. Dark brown and orange are usually female and males usually are dull green bills.

Oh that is fascinating! I have all those bill colors. I can see curling tails in some. Below are some pictures for reference.

I don't see any Drake feathers (curls above tail). If they all quack you got all girls. If you have any that sorta whisper or whistle instead of typical quack they're males. Far as I can tell from pics looks like mostly if not all are girls...only saw 1 that looked iffy, but think it's just lighting cuz is in a more shady area of pic.

I have only heard one full LOUD quack come from this group. I am not sure a duck whisper from a quack, but I will keep an ear out.

Do you know when it is a visible to start seeing drakes head color change? I believe they are 11 weeks. Others said you would see color change by now?

Thanks for sharing your insight!
