Bummer!! Thank you for your help, I’m brand new to chickens so it’s nice having backyardchickens as a resource. He was the smallest chick in the batch of lavender orpingtons so I thought for sure it would be a hen, but rookie move I guessYep, cockerel.
Some nice male feathers were hiding.
Lavender Orps can be tricky. The feathers often have that ruffled look.
I’ll wait to give him away until he starts crowing because he’s so sweet, but I’ll get a jump start on searching for a good home for him
because we also can't have any roosters in our city. So here's to hoping we both have hens! LOL! They are giant birds! It was quite a surprise. Keep us posted when you know.....and good luck!
