12 week Lavender Orpington gender

Yep, cockerel.
Some nice male feathers were hiding.
Lavender Orps can be tricky. The feathers often have that ruffled look.
Bummer!! Thank you for your help, I’m brand new to chickens so it’s nice having backyardchickens as a resource. He was the smallest chick in the batch of lavender orpingtons so I thought for sure it would be a hen, but rookie move I guess 😄
I’ll wait to give him away until he starts crowing because he’s so sweet, but I’ll get a jump start on searching for a good home for him 😭

Everyone loves a Lavender Orpington.
I hope you can find him a home.

Looks to me with the waddles, rooster. I would wait until you hear it crow however, that is the 100% way you will know for certain.

Mine are 10 weeks old and I am in the same boat! Hoping and praying none of them are roos....to be honest this is why we got 3 :D because we also can't have any roosters in our city. So here's to hoping we both have hens! LOL! They are giant birds! It was quite a surprise. Keep us posted when you know.....and good luck!

None of those are cockerels. They're all pullets.
Beautiful birds.

Your birds are beautiful!! I’m hoping they are all hens too! Yours are for sure looking like girls to me, but I’m no expert 😄 It’s nice that you have more than one to be able to co
They really are giant birds! I tried to pick breeds that handle the cold well since we are in Minnesota! Good luck to you and I’ll keep everyone posted on mine! ❤️
