I've noticed some changes in my 12 week old buff orpingtons appearance. Her comb and around her face are getting more red. Is this because she's getting closer to egg laying age?
 
She was double sexed from McMurray, I really don't think she's a roo, lol, maybe it's just part of the maturing process, I've never had chickens before

Looks like you have a healthy girl there. BOs are slower to mature and you may not see eggs until 24 weeks or more. The red you see there is nothing like the red of a bird that's about to lay/has started laying.
