Day before yesterday, and last night. Had to, they were shipped.Okay, @Cynthia12 Are your eggs set?!
What is it about quails. I had always thought exploding eggs was a rare occasion because I had never seen it at work when I worked at a small chicken farm but during my 3 years working with quails I had several rotten eggsplosions. I never did notice any issues it caused to hatch rate of everyone else thoIf I didn’t set dirty-ish eggs, I would never set duck eggs ever. Lol. As long as they’re not cracked, wet for longer than a short period of time, and not like caked in manure, I scrape off the worst of it and set them anyway. I have washed eggs before but I find they dehydrate a lot faster and it’s hard to keep the humidity up in my incubators, so I just leave the really stuck stuff on them. Haven’t had a single rotten egg, except for a few stinky late dead quail, and those weren’t dirty, just hard to see into. Lol.
Just got my shipped eggs! Anyone know by chance what breed BBAB would be? It’s a blue egg.
Me-prayinf for one more last minute egg today from my polish
The sky-tornado warning
I’ve had duck and chicken eggs explode, but no quail yet. I suspect that the quail exploders were thin shelled, got cracked and contaminated. The other shells were thick enough to ward off the germs. What is it about quails. Oh my goodness, how did I not think of that?!My best guess....
BBS is typically used for Blue/Black/Splash....A is typically for Ameraucana...B could be for Bantam.......So my guess will be Blue/Black Ameraucana Bantam.![]()
I know right? Thankfully none exploded on me until I tossed them outside, but you could smell them as soon as you opened the incubator. Never had chicken or duck eggs be that bad before I caught them. What is it about quails. I think I’ve only had one hatch that failed because of it.I know right? Thankfully none exploded on me until I tossed them outside, but you could smell them as soon as you opened the incubator.
