-13 degrees and 35 MPH wind! Hows everyone doing?

It's around 3 F here this morning -10 with the wind chill. The wind blew all day yesterday and all night. It is starting to slow up.

We lost power last night for about an hour and a half. I have to get bundled up to go check on my cockerels that are outside in their cubby. There are two of them that I really want to keep at this point, so I guess I will be bringing those two in to make sure they are ok.

I had to put the sebbies and the ducks inside the chicken barn yesterday as their feet were so cold they could hardly walk. So come spring I will have a big clean up job to do. Thankfully it is a cement floor and soapy water, a scrubbie and the wet/dry vac do wonders.

I don't mind the snow, but I hate the bitter cold! Actually I wish it would snow because it would warm up.

Well, it is 32* this morning. The lawn is white with frost, and the little container of water had a little ice in it, but the troughs have no ice. The cars are frozen. The chickens are busy bawking around, waiting for me to open the gate so they can run around my acre.
I do think it is cold, but seeing what all your temps are like, guess I am pretty warm actually. But not as warm as Phoenix! I live too near the coast to ever get any snow. Once, in the early 60's we did get quite a bit of snow that stuck, and we got to build a snowman. The storm was suppose to hit last night, but it is not here yet, we are suppose to be wet and cold this week.

One winter I spent Christmas vacation in Montana. It got to 20* below. My BIL had to bring the truck battery into the house to thaw so he could start the truck. Then when we got to his work, the pipes to the sink were froze and they had to thaw them out with a torch (or something like that) so I could get water to make them coffee. Before we left the house that morning, I was silly, being from CA, thought I could run to the mailbox and back in bare feet. Boy, were my toes cold!

It's actually the warmest day we've had in weeks. 32 degrees with a very light breeze. Don't get me wrong, it's cold... but not -4 with 25mph winds.

I'm thankful for the warm day. I need to take the kids out today.

I remember 20 years ago I had 4 roommates, between us we had 7 cars/trucks (cuz a couple were boys!) only one would start so the poor guy had to be a taxi for us all day. Some had work, some had school. Well that night he brought in ALL of our batteries. There was 4 of them in my bathtub!! Also we lived in a trailer and had fozen pipes, 5 people~ bathroom down the street!! Oh those were the days! Of coarse some things don't change, I live in a trailer again and my bathroom is frozen, good thing we have another!

Oh good grief! 50 degrees, you probably don't even need a hoodie!

I have my eskimo parka by the door and when it's this cold, I always put it on so as not to get chilled.
