-13 degrees and 35 MPH wind! Hows everyone doing?

I just bundled up and went to the coop to check on my 2 mo. old chicks. Couldn't go to sleep not knowing they were ok in the cold. I put heat light on them tonight. Some of them are still getting feathers in. I feel better now.

They didn't seem cold at all.....yet.

Thermometer read -20F this morning and hardly NO wind!

I had a few frozen eggs, some cracked...I fed those back to the chickens and the ones that didnt crack, I used for baking. My girls like the ground nest in the coop better than the boxes

How did everyone else survive the night?

We're about -10 here with a wind chill of about -35. Supposed to be a high of -7 today.

I am so thankful that today I begin working from home. I can just refill a cup of coffee, throw another couple logs in our wood stove, and stay warm.

Well, I might take a warm bowl of oatmeal out to the chickens, too.

Stay warm, y'all!

.

-27 degrees with the wind chill. Wind chill advisary in affect until 10 am. High of 5 with a 20 to 30 below wind chill. YECH!! Wind out of the east today,so good chance of snow, with wind of course.
The only time the wind stops is when the temp gets above 100. When you most want it. Doesn't really blow more in the winter, you just notice it more!
Had to bring another serama into the house last night. Just couldn't keep him warm enough. That makes 5 vacationing in the house. What a mess they make.

Just reporting - all my chickens and feathered buddies are ok, I just opened up the coop, its "up" to -17. Ducks came out but no chickens or guinea's came out.
thank GOODNESS there is very little wind. The weathersite does say our windchill is -33 but it certainly isn't as bad as yesterday.

Just got back from checking on the chicks/guineas. They didnt not want out this morning, which is good cause I still havent shoveled the snow drift away to get the door open.

Its miserably cold out, but the sun is shining and its a clear sky and hardly no wind

Montana checking in. High today of -10, hit -16 last night. We have two heat lamps in there and last night I took out a sealed oil electric heater in the coop as well. The coop thermo. reads 10'. My beautiful buf roo has his waddles and parts of his comb frozen. All the other girls look ok. Even my electric waterer froze up. Got ten eggs this morning though.
