FWIW, easter egger tend to be better producing than true bred araucana or ameraucana... if what you want is pretty eggs these are a better, and much more affordable, bird to get anyway

very true, but that is as long as they turn out to be GIRLS. I had the misfortune of getting both boys in the two blue egg layers I bought. Both my ameraucan and my easter egger turned out to be boys :hitso now I don't have any pretty colored egg layers like I wanted.
 
Agreed with OGM. EE are better layers, and often lay beautiful green, aqua, olive, or even blue eggs. I prefer the color of my EE eggs over the egg color of my Ams. And my EE lay larger eggs than the Ams. No matter what, I will always have at least a few EE or Ams in my flock.
