13 week Dominique-gender?

I understand the coloring today. I saw some dominiques today at the store and they are more black :( which, if we're going by coloring here, both are boys since they are just the same.

I hate the whole wait and see approach. hhe. If I wind up with no dominiques I might be sad.... ok, I will be sad.

OK, so maybe you're right about the coloring. Now that I look very closely at my two next to each other, the one with the bigger comb is a little lighter than the other one. I didn't notice before because it is negligable. but it is definitely a little lighter than the other one.

Wanted to update you 2 weeks later. They are now 15 weeks old. Here they are side by side.

You really think so? The one in question had its comb red and very bumpy really early on. I guess it could be possible since my 3y old hens, one of them developed early like that too and I thought for sure she was a rooster until she laid eggs LOL.

Well, she is 17 1/2 weeks old now and looks the same I believe! So, I guess I am going to go with female for now. I'll try and post some photos sometime this week to get your opinions. Wouldn't it be funny if this chicken is the first of the group to lay an egg hhehehe.

Though the bird was cockerel-colored, it never had anything resembling a rooster's saddle or hackle feathers that I could see in any photos you posted. Some are just hard to sex the regular way, by the plumage.

She resembles my late BR hen, Lexie, who was always as light as her sons. She was the only light colored BR hen I ever owned.
