Well, I've got good and bad news tonight...The left side lump that I was taking care of last night, looks pretty good. There's still some icky stuff in there that I'm working on getting out, but it's coming along. I packed a bunch of Neosporin in it. Hopefully, that'll help it stay open.
The bad news...she's got a lot of new swelling on her right side. This is the eye that has been weeping so continuously. The swelling was not there last night. And, unfortunately, I was only able to tend her once today, so I don't know exactly when it started swelling. It's pretty bad. I'm posting pics below so you all can see and hopefully give me some ideas on what, if anything, I can do about it.
I'm not holding out much hope for her vision in this eye at this point. I don't understand why it was seeming to do better and now all of a sudden it's all swollen and obviously has pus in it again. The discharge from her eye does not smell the way the gunk does from the other side. The swelling is so bad, it's swollen into her mouth and she can't closer her beak again. I'm even a bit concerned about her airway. Although, she is breathing fine and I really don't think it'll swell all the way to the other side of her mouth.
Here's a crazy thought...could I take a syringe and drain some of this out? I still have some that I was using for the antibiotic. Oh and in addition to draining from her eyes, there is a lot draining from her nose. That does smell bad.
Ugh, just when things were starting to seem like we were on the home stretch with the healing.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! (I know I'll get them...this is BYC after all.
