Help! I just can't tell if "Sis" is really a sis! For 2 weeks now s/he has sported a red face. Sis has no other cockerel traits whatsoever but the red in her face has me perplexed. Araucanas don't typically come into lay until about 6 months of age, so that can't be the case. She turned 13 weeks old yesterday. Her full brother (that's him in some of the pictures) was an obvious cockerel at 5 weeks old, as was another full brother of theirs that is 3 weeks younger. Her hatchmate brother had an enlarged comb at 5 weeks, started crowing at 6 weeks, and has had saddle feathers for a week and a half now. Unfortunately my camera sucks and most of the pictures do not show how much red she has in her face. The very first picture does show it accurately, but the rest do not. Sis doesn't have quite as much red as her brother...but has more than any other female Araucana I've seen at this age.

** This pic shows the true color of her face.

Her face looks like it is turning red, so maybe she will start laying in a few weeks
