Well, I posted on here weeks ago and got all girl. I was fairly certain of this until yesterday morning when at 6 am, I hear "her" making baakking (for lack of a better word, and spelling) noises loud enough to pull me out of bed to go check on her. It didn't really sound like crowing, maybe more like an angry hen. I'm an extremely light sleeper and my husband slept right through it so I guess it wasn't too loud. And I heard it again this morning at 530. It's the same noise she made when a stray dog ran into our yard and once I go out there, and feed her or see what's wrong, it stops. The older hen I had made a similar noise when in distress, or just to get me outside, but it's been months since she passed away and now I don't remember the exact noise as clearly, and I'm worried.
I'm really hoping she is not a he, as roos are illegal to have here in city limits and this one is the only one left of the 3 I had.
So what do you think? When will I know for sure if a boy or girl? And should I be able to better tell if this noise was a crow? (more distinctly a cock-a-doodle-doo, more often, louder)
