Wow, what wonderful hatches! I love them! Some of the babies that I've hatched naturally or by incubating since 2017.
Showgirl hatched black Australorp mixed chick (pullet). She was picking at egg, helping her hatch,11/1/2017. My very first chick to hatch and she was done naturally. View attachment 3458292
Peek-a-boo, I see you! Khaki Campbell duckling also hatched in the same clutch of eggs by a Showgirl hen, 11/6/17. My first duckling to hatch ever.

First duckling of the year to hatch by incubating. 3/26/22. (5/5 males)

While the above eggs were hatching, I also had an olive egger hatching 2 ducklings (no photos of them hatching), both turned out to be females. Also had a Runner duck with 19 duck and chicken eggs - she took them from other nests. 8 duckling hatched (7m, 1f) and 1 pullet chick that hatched on 5/26/22 (Welsummer/Easter Egger cross). Several eggs were duds, sadly lost 3 chicks and a duckling days before due to hatch. In 2022, I had 15 duckling hatch, 3 females and 12 males plus the pullet Welsummer/Easter Egger cross hatch by the white duck in above photo.
How adorable!I am here!

How is this one doing? It looks adorable but I’m worried about the yolk and veins I still see for it to be hatching unless ducklings are different than chicks during hatching ?
Back in the egg? How funny! Is he out now?Third one to hatch didn't let me get good photos. He popped himself back in the egg!
Also, I didn't see if multiple photos were allowed per post. If not, I can fix it.
He is out! And causing trouble in the brooder now, poking eyes and beaks. When he gets poked back, he's not a fan. This is not an entry, but the progression of his hatch:Back in the egg? How funny! Is he out now?
It's preferred that only one entry per a post because it helps with data entry, though I don't think it's an actual rule. If you want to put your entries in separate posts, go for it. If you don't, that's fine.![]()
He's a naughty one then. He must be so adorable to watch though! He is out! And causing trouble in the brooder now, poking eyes and beaks. When he gets poked back, he's not a fan. This is not an entry, but the progression of his hatch:
