Having had 12 kids..makes a big difference. Remember, I did the His, Mine, and Ours thing. We had one together. That's the one's baby girl that just came.
Life has happened and I haven't had the time/ability to source the eggs I hoped to find -- Whiting True Blues and/or French Cuckoo Marans, but I will be hatching mixed eggs from my flock.
If anyone local to Moore County NC wants to trade eggs from these or similar breeds for Australorp crosses we do have a couple days to arrange a meet up. I'll be setting on Sunday.
My grandma on my dad’s side had 7 kids and 17 grandchildren. 1 great grandchild (my son) that she got to meet. And another great grandson born after she passed.
Getting the 14 serama eggs Saturday. There won’t be a snow storm so looks like we’ll be able to take the 1.5 hour road trip to get them.
I set 20 eggs tonight and will hopefully set 12-14 more on Sunday! Todays eggs are all bantams and include:
6 EEs (d’Anver/Ameraucanas)
3 black watermaals
1 white/lavender watermaal
2 d’Uccles (mille or blue mille)
3 cuckoo Ameraucanas
2 blue Ameraucanas
1 self blue Ameraucana
2 gold laced satins covered by a confetti rooster
It's that time again! Every year, many members from all over the world come together to set eggs to hatch on the exact same day, April 8th, 2023 - the day BEFORE Easter. As a group last year, we had 2623 eggs set for hatching! If you are new to hatching, this is a great way to get a lot of help, tips, and advice. Join in the fun for the largest BYC Hatch-Along of the year!

Got my eggs yesterday and ended up with all bantams!! I'll be setting mine on Sunday instead of Saturday, as I have typically hatched bantams at 18-20 days versus 21. I figure, if I start a day later, I could either be right on time with everyone else, or a day or two early. It's not constant so it's hard to say for sure!! Some are silkies, which I've always had hatch at like 19-20 days, and some are bantam orps and bantam Wyandottes, which could go any time after day 18!!
So exciting! Getting the 'bator set up tonight so it can run a couple days and then we are off to the races!!
