If you are that nervous I'll warn you that you will freak out the first time you see one dust bathing or sunning itself. Looks like they are dying before your eyes.

So true! My hubby called me in a huge panic the first time he saw our girls dust...LOL! He was SURE they were in trouble @EricaCAL being a chick momma is stressful and so much to learn no matter how long you have been raising chickens! This site is an amazing resource and support along the way! So don't be discouraged by responses....take the info you would like...leave the info you don't lots of great chicken LOVING people here!!! Oh, that makes me feel so much better! I know I am super sensitive so trying to keep all that in perspective. I just wish people realized before they typed something judgmental or hurtful that there is another human being on the other end here. I am doing the best I can with these chicks and I am not going to second guess my instincts anymore.

I am hoping all the kind users you mentioned are frequent contributors here cause I really need these forums for support. I don't need them for harsh judgment!! I am very open to suggestions that are practical and want to keep learning.

You are asking if you should take them off of medicated chick starter.

You had your chicks vaccinated? Was this an Anticoccidial vaccine or were they vaccinated for Marek's?

Either way, since you have started with medicated chick starter, then, personally I would continue to feed it until it's time to buy a new bag. Then use regular chick starter.

FWIW - offering chick grit (crushed granite) to chicks free choice, regardless if they are only eating chick starter only would be a good idea. They may be able to find suitable sources when they are outside, but it never hurts to make it available.

Do you have your coop/run ready for them? If you are in the US where it's summer and your coop/run is ready and secured against predators, you may want to consider getting them outside. A lot of people brood directly in the coop. At 16days, they should be fine during the days that are warm - providing a heat source for cooler nights.
