Is the broody the same breed?

Nope. Two OEGB hens take the credit. They're sharing a nesting box.
I bought a dozen mixed hatching eggs (EE, PC & BC). Only got the 1 BC to hatch.

They're also sitting on some silkie x buckeye eggs that my silkie slipped under them.

I considered that. I was wondering about how effective it would be at keeping predators out?
As of now, my dad and I are looking at using Cow Panels to make a semicircle covered run with about 120 sqft of space. Lined with hardware cloth, I figure it will be a good run. Thoughts?
I pretty much need to redo my whole run as a) it is very poor and ineffective at keeping predators out and chickens in and b) it is not large enough for the new number of birds that we have

FWIW my original run (not the expansion we just added) is cattle panels covered with chicken wire. The cattle panels give strength and stability so we felt we could get away without using hardware cloth. No problems so far (though it kinda depends on what predators you have locally).

Regarding the run area @Cyprus - I love the cattle panel hoop houses. 4 of them and you've got a 16 x 8 run. You can cover with whatever you please but it makes for a solid foundation and I love that you can keep adding more if necessary. I went balls to the wall and used pressure treated 2 x 6's for a base frame and dug in hardware cloth. I use mine as a greenhouse but I have resident rabbits so I needed it secure. Nothing like having little fertilizer machines where you need them most!
Cattle panels are awesome - I use them for everything. Perfect for trellising kiwi too!

Cattle panels rock! @Cyprus I know @Molpet has some great cattle panel coops. And I think she might have an article or at least some pics on her profile page if you want some more ideas/examples.

My black Australorp hen is still on the nest and has plucked the feathers from her belly.
She is sitting on about 4 unfertilized eggs.
I that she stays there for at least the next 3 days and nights and truly goes broody.
