So, finally at 16 weeks and one of my Tetra Tints has started laying....double yolks! Oddly, my rooster makes an odd, nervous clucking sound, non-stop while she is laying. He only stops when she leaves the egg and comes out if the coop. Anyone know what that's all about?

Congrats on the eggs!

It's not uncommon for a rooster to spend time finding and suggesting nesting spots, offering "encouragement" (from a human perspective) to a laying hen, etc.

I call it chicken lamaze, it sounds like my roo is coaching the hen through laying the egg.

To me mine is screaming her head off and my roo is going it's ok it's ok it's ok just breathe lol
