Hi there! I have 5 16 week birds, marked RI red pullets from tractor supply. One has started laying, I know who she is:

Weirdly, no tail feathers but fluffernutter is a girl.

By contrast, the other 4 all look a bit different in coloring and maturation. Different sized combs and waddles, lighter feathers. Here are some pics of butterscotch(most pronounced comb/waddle out of all of them) as an example:

I know one of my silkies is a cockerel, and he seems to be smitten with all 5 of these birds. Since it’s my first time having chicks I don’t know if it’s a submission thing or a sexual one. Any ideas on breed for either and gender on butterscotch? Thanks!!

That’s what I was hoping to hear! They’re all so snuggly, and I’m very attached. Not sure we have a big enough flock for multiple roo’s. 15 weeks seemed early for eggs, hoping the rest of the girls start contributing soon!

The BR in my profile, this pic was taken at 18 wks and she'd been red for a while. Of course, she didn't lay for a month later... probably because of the winter. LOL free loader.
