16 x 12 Coop

Pics
So much for me remembering how this worked!
I picked up 12 healthy, hungry thirsty chicks at 8:00 AM.

Coop was cold so I did a mad scramble to get a couple of heaters in there and get the brooder warmed up. They had to wait in the warm van while I did that.

Well they are there and safe that’s the good news

What a stressful couple of hours but that's over with.

Within 5 minutes they had the hang of the vertical nipple water station.

I made a slight modification to the chick feeder and added a bit of wood through the slot to keep them from climbing on top of the feeder. Most of them are eating at the feeder and using the VN water station.

WooHoo!!
What are you using for chick heat?

It was crazy this morning when I got back I turned on the 250 watt red bulb and lowered all the way down then got some cords and ran them to the garage and put two 1500 watt heaters under the poop table/brooder. They stayed in my van for about 30 minutes until the brooder warmed up. It was 45°F in there this morning. It's 80°F now!

The command center!

It's 80°F in the brooder with no drafts at all. Kinda warm for me lol.

It's 97.0°F on the deck under the heat light and they seem to roam about a lot with a few times under the heat light. The thermocouple is taped down under the paper towels and positioned under the center of the heat lamp.
