The "trainer" neighbor has yet to get back in touch with me. I can fill a page on what I feel about that guy right now. I went over to his place, his kennel where he is keeping/training about 10-12 dogs. In this hot as hell summer days in Ga, the dogs are in bad shape. No water, no food, no shelter from the elements. They are all skinny and starved. I have a call out to my local animal enforcement about the conditions of this so called kennel. There are many holes in the runs in attempts of the poor dogs trying to dig their way out of the hell hole the guy have forced them into. No wonder that poor dog got my chickens, he was starved. I've got pictures of the condition of the dogs & kennels. Sad that something like this occurred. Sad for me for the loss of my pets, the owner of the dog, the money we both lose and the poor creatures that are trained to go after birds....any bird it looks like.
Yes I took a head count, I do have survirors. 12 hens and 2 roosters. But they are so scared, and unlikely they will lay any time soon. I was getting about 20 eggs a day before the attack, now I won't.
As for my own conditions, I have about 20 acres. 6 horses in a very nice barn with paddocks and 4 large pastures that are used daily. The chicks are free range, and roost in the barn, nice, warm, dry and well cooled with three fans going at all times. I had had no dog attacks before, as the horses are not nice to them and generally kept critters in check.
Pity us chicken owners who only want peace & quiet to raise our chicks without harm.
