It is hard to imagine that just a few weeks ago we weren't sure we'd ever actually get eggs, and now we get almost 2 dozen a day! I think all the breeds are laying (except the Cuckoo Marans), but not all the birds in each breed. The Golden Sexlinks are the stars of the coop ... big eggs now, they were early layers, and they don't seem to cause much trouble or get upset about anything -- middle of the pecking order, not super friendly, but not flighty either. We'll get more of those next spring.
Like Nelson says, we're getting a lot of beginner eggs. More of the little ones than we can eat and they're really too little to sell. They are a nice mix of colors from medium brown to buff to almost pink, white, and sage green eggs from the few EEs laying and the one duck. I can't wait for the one Cuckoo Marans to lay, I really want a deep brow egg. Some blue eggs would be nice, too! Next purchase I'm hoping for some speckled egg layers. And some of those olive eggs would also be really cool! I'm all about the pretty eggs.
I took a dozen practice eggs to the new neighbor. She hadn't seen the green eggs before. She got all excited even though they were peewee sized.
