thanks that was very helfull gorgeous chickenthat's my "Betty White" they are a Sex Linked cross from Dunlaps hatchery in Caldwell ID, they have a description on this website and a nice one on Dunlaps too. So far a very nice chicken I have two they lay early(18-19 weeks)nice dark brown eggs not as in chocolate, but the darkest rich brown so far out of all mine...... Amber's are a White RIR roo and a Red RIR hen, I believe the golden SL are the opposite Red RIR roo and a White RIR hen from Dunlaps??? They told me when they molt they will get a splash more amber brown speckles on their backs as they mature, mine are still very white.
..... it was pretty windy yesterday and the trees were moving alot too. I have put an electric fence around the coop to keep my dogs away from it. After a couple of tries at the fence the stopped bothering the chickens. The electric fence seems to have no effect whatsoever on the chickens! However new issues came up.. chickens started hiding in the trees at night and then of course were loose in the morning when I let the dogs out. I leave for work at about 6:00am so it's still dark. Next step is to try clipping flight feathers on the ones that fly, ie I have a campine, buttercup a redcap and a phoenix who fly into the trees. The big ones (fav's, cochins and brahmas don't fly into the trees so it's not an issue). Looking at combs, the Buttercup has a nice red one now, some of the others are still pink and not deep red so I guess i still have to wait for eggs...
