19 weeks still no eggs....

Ok, you guys are killing me... I am at 18 weeks with mine and 3 are ready.... I have squatting, egg songs and vents the size of 50 cent pieces, not to mention how red they are. I am dying here, at least I know I'm not the only one. I now tell my husband "its time for my daily dissapointment" when I go check for eggs.

I believe your Amberlinks experience gave you an unrealistic expectation of the typical age a pullet comes into lay.

Is it possible you forgot to put quarters into the little machines? You do know without the quarters, they won't start laying!!

Seriously.... Got my first girls 2 years ago August. They didn't lay until December. It was a huge surprise to see that first egg since I really wasn't expecting to see any eggs for a while. After adding more this year, I was really pleased that the first one started laying early, in mid May, and it was only a few more weeks before all of them were.

I know it's difficult, but be patient! It's worth the wait!!!!! Keep thinking - - Christmas in October!

Nuttyredhead, Can you tell me what breed the white chicken in your pics is? I have one identical to that one and the girl that sold it to me said it was a columbian wyandotte. She has a single comb and yellow legs. CWs have a rose comb.

Hmmm No she isnt a Light Sussex. She is a Columbian Rock Cross!

I saw that Columbian Rock Cross and thought, yea she does look like them a lot. But, the girl that sold them to me said she was a CW! When her comb came out a single comb, that was the first indication she wasn't a CW. It's not her fault though, she purchased the group of 25 brown egg layers from McMurray and assumed the breeds. I say breeds (plural) because she sold me Barred Plymouth Rocks that turned out to be cuckoo marans (white legs)!

Thanks nuttyredhead! and thanks anyway henryhoe!

Don't feel too bad.... I have fifteen 20 week old pullets, a combination of Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, Easter Eggers, and one each Wyandotte & Australorp and NOT ONE of them is laying. Even the two adult Orps have stopped laying... must have something to do with the fall & shorter days.
